Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and with frigid winter temperatures affecting most of the U.S. and Canada, it’s the perfect time to escape to the Florida Keys for a romantic, warm-weather getaway. The Keys are home to the most beautiful year-round temperatures romantic, luxury accommodations. There’s no better way to spend time with your loved one than on a white sand beach in the tropical sunshine.

I’m so glad that Hotels.com asked me to share my best tips for the Florida Keys, which has been one of my favourite travel spots to date! Here are my recommendations for the most romantic places to stay, eat, and play in the Keys this Valentine’s Day.

Romantic places to stay

Tranquility Bay Beachfront Resort

Tranquility Bay is one of the most beautiful, tucked away spot in the Keys, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing, romantic getaway. Their luxurious guest rooms offer a uniquely intimate experience and feature stunning Gulf of Mexico views.

Kona Kai Resort, Gallery & Botanic Gardens

This intimate, adults-only resort in Key Largo is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet, romantic getaway with your partner. About a two-hour drive from Miami International Airport, this property only features 13 quaint guest rooms and suites. Book an oceanfront suite and let your stress melt away to the sound of the waves.

Southernmost Beach Resort

This resort is a Key West favourite. The hotel boasts beautiful architectural details including arched doorways, bay window seats, and crown moulding. Most rooms have balconies, including some with wraparound balconies that provide the most stunning ocean views. Location is king here, sitting at the end of Duval street, providing guests with access to Key West’s famous bars and restaurants without the loud, nighttime noise.

Romantic places to eat

Louie’s Backyard

This Key West restaurant is a favourite among tourists and locals alike, with its beautifully presented dishes and seasonally changing menu. Book a table outside on the deck to enjoy the ocean views while you indulge in dishes such as cracked conch with mango chutney, lamb chops with sun-dried tomato relish, and tamarind-glazed duck breast.

Latitudes Restaurant

One of the most romantic things to do in the Keys is to enjoy a sunset dinner at Latitudes Restaurant, located on Sunset Key. Be sure to reserve an outdoor table on the beach well in advance, as the restaurant frequently books up. You’ll need to take a ferry to access the restaurant, it takes about 7-minutes and you can catch it from the Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina.

Better Than Sex Restaurant

Following your one-of-a-kind dining experience, head on over to Better Than Sex, Key West’s only dessert restaurant. This is a full-service dessert restaurant where you can lose yourself in a sexy atmosphere while indulging in chocolate rimmed drinks and house-made desserts. The seating arrangements are very private, making this the perfect spot to cap of the evening with your special someone.

Romantic Keys activities

Enjoy a couple’s spa day

Spend your romantic getaway enjoying a tranquil and rejuvenating couple’s spa day at the Spa at Cheeca Lodge on Islamorada. Couples can indulge in a variety of treatments including hot stone massages, body treatments, hydrotherapy, oceanside massages, and more.

Take a sunset cruise

The best way to enjoy the Keys is from the water, so grab your partner and head out on a sunset cruise around these gorgeous islands. Set sail just before the sun sets with a glass of champagne in hand and enjoy the vibrant tropical scene unfolding in front of you.

Bike around Old Town Key West

For those looking for a more active, romantic adventure, rent a bicycle in Key West and stroll through the quaint side streets with your partner. The leisurely pace of a beach cruiser enables you to see and experience more of the island’s charming character.
