If you’ve ever been to Hawaii, then you know that the poke bowl hype is real. Poke bowls are one of my favourite seafood dishes – especially on a hot day in the tropics.

Poke began with fishermen seasoning the cut-offs from their catch to serve as a snack on board. Today, poke bowls are made with fresh cut raw fish (usually tuna) served with sushi rice, maui onions, limu kohu (seaweed), Inamona (roasted kukui nut), soy sauce, green onions, or sesame oil. Over the years, people have created tons of different sauces and spices to season poke with, so there’s a little something for everyone.

The best part about poke is that it’s super easy to make. So easy, that you can re-create it at home and transport yourself to the islands in a few minutes.

This easy, at-home Hawaiian-inspired poke bowl recipe can be whipped up in less than ten minutes and can be entirely customized based on your poke bowl preferences.

The key to any successful poke bowl is high-quality sashimi-grade tuna. I purchase mine frozen and already poke cut from Caudle’s Catch, making it super easy to just thaw and throw into my bowl when I’m ready.
