Almost one year in to the COVID19 pandemic that’s limited international travel, many Ontarians are feeling a little stir crazy. I know I sure am. Which is why I’ve made it my mission over the last few months to explore my own backyard a little bit more and travel within the province.

I recently discovered an area of Ontario that was a little bit harder than the rest to leave at the end of my stay. It would be a disservice to keep this cute spot to myself, so today I want to share with you why Grand Bend is not only a cozy staycation destination in the province, but it’s also the perfect place to work remotely this winter.

Grand Bend is located on Ontario’s west coast. Home to a 25 mile stretch of beach and a lively boardwalk, the area is best known as a summer tourist town. But, there’s a lot to be discovered in Grand Bend during the off-season. Share on X

Grand Bend – Sun, Sand, and Fun Capital of Ontario

Grand Bend is located on Ontario’s west coast. Home to a 25 mile stretch of beach and a lively boardwalk, the area is best known as a summer tourist town. But, there’s a lot to be discovered in Grand Bend during the off-season.

The colder months bring a quieter, slower pace to the region that make it perfect for exploring without the crowds and enjoying the Ontario’s coastal landscape.

The Grand Bend area is also home to a ton of restaurants, wineries, and breweries for foodies and wine connoisseurs looking to uncover a unique culinary gem in Ontario.

Lost Lobster: A Boho inspired retreat for work and play

During my working vacation in Grand Bend, I stayed at the Lost Lobster, a coastal themed rental property that sleeps ten and is perfectly set up for remote work. The interior design in this place was so beautiful, I seriously felt like I’d been transported to Caribbean getaway!

The Lost Lobster is located right in the heart of Grand Bend, a short walk to the beach and less than a 5-minute drive from a handful of local restaurants, breweries, and wineries.

The property itself has a beautiful open concept set up and an upstairs loft with additional bedrooms. On the main level there is a fully stocked kitchen with appliances and cutlery, as well as a big dining room table that’s perfect for setting up a home office. Guests can also access the Wi-Fi, which worked perfectly for me during my stay (even on zoom calls!).

The living room area is outfitted with a fireplace that’s perfect for curling up in front of on cold winter days. There’s also a TV, where guests can access Netflix and Amazon Prime by signing into their accounts.

My favourite feature about this property was of course, the hot tub in the backyard. This was the perfect way to unwind after a day of working and exploring the local area. Personally, I’ve always thought that hot tubs are more fun in the winter! For those who prefer to stay dry and warm, the backyard also has a fire pit guests can use and there are several spots within Grand Bend to purchase firewood.
